BTS earned US$55 Million Just from Commercials in 2021

While much of the world was still languishing in 2021, the BTS boys made 65 billion won (US$55.1 million) through commercials alone.

McDonald’s BTS meal

Remember the McDonald’s BTS meal in June last year? The world’s hottest pop group made a cool US$8.5 million from that campaign. Granted, they must split it among the seven of them, but still.

BTS MacD Meal

The BTS Meal, which includes a nine-piece Chicken McNuggets, large fries, a large Coke, and exclusive sweet chili and cajun dipping sauces inspired by popular recipes from McDonald’s in South Korea, was quickly snapped up by fans with the fast-food restaurant seeing sold-out meals and long lines of delivery drivers waiting to pick up the purple boxes of joy.

Of course, no true BTS fan could just let this moment pass without trying to document it or save it in some way and they certainly succeeded in doing this.

From repurposing the packaging to form earrings, bookmarks, and even sneakers, here are the most creative ways BTS fans managed to save their BTS McDonald’s meal boxes, cups, and paper bags.

BTS x SAMSUNG

Among their memorable CFs, last year was the ad to promote Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip3 phone, which was a snazzily produced music video involving huge sets (including a subway train) and lots of dancing. Not to mention their continuing ambassadorship with car brand Hyundai, where they shoot high-budget music videos in exotic locales and shiny ad spots which surely involve plenty of pre-and post-production.

BTS x FILA

Their CF for sports and athleisure brand Fila’s Fall 2021 collection was also on point, and who could forget all the amazing visuals and that stunning fashion film when they officially joined luxury label Louis Vuitton as brand ambassadors last year.

From McDonald’s to Louis Vuitton—everyone wants a piece of the world’s most famous boyband.

K-pop megastars BTS have joined French luxury house, Louis Vuitton, as its latest ambassadors. The Grammy-nominated band is made up of members RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook who are well known for their sartorial sense— pulling off everything from streetwear to luxury labels effortlessly.

The brand also posted a new picture of the boys, seen in matching jackets and shirts in pastel hues that are reminiscent of their iconic outfits in the music video for Dynamite.

The South Korean septet also wore custom Louis Vuitton suits to the recent Grammy Awards, where they pulled off a stunning performance and made history as the first Korean band to be nominated for an award.

Louis Vuitton Men’s Artistic Director Virgil Abloh and BTS also released their statements on the partnership.

“I am delighted BTS are joining Louis Vuitton today. I am looking forward to this wonderful partnership which adds a modern chapter to the House, merging luxury and contemporary culture. I can’t wait to share all the very exciting projects we are working on,” said Virgil Abloh.

BTS added: “Becoming global brand ambassadors for Louis Vuitton is a truly exciting moment for us.”

Despite the pandemic, BTS appeared in plenty of ads, and are the undisputed CF kings of Korean showbiz, while also dominating the music charts, social media… and the world.
